Last night on DIY's "Holmes Buy It Right", Mike was looking at some notched joists. We will not bore you with the details of allowable notching but this picture shows a clear case of excessive notching. This amount of excessive notching could lead to significant structural issues. Just another example of the importance of having an inspection by a qualified home inspector before making a purchase decision.
